ZTE Blade V Ultra (Z982) / Blade V8 Pro Firmware Flash File Download [Stock Rom]

The ZTE Blade V Ultra (model Z982) is the name used by the carrier Telcel in Mexico for the device more widely known as the ZTE Blade V8 Pro. This mid-range smartphone from 2017 was well-regarded for its reliable Snapdragon 625 chipset and dual-camera setup. If your Blade V Ultra is stuck in a bootloop, experiencing software crashes, or needs to be restored to its original factory condition, flashing the official stock firmware is the most effective solution.

Important Note: This device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. The restoration process requires putting the phone into EDL Mode and using the QFIL (Qualcomm Flash Image Loader) tool. This is the official Telcel Mexico firmware and will restore all original carrier applications and the network lock.

How to Flash Using QFIL

  1. Install Qualcomm Drivers: Download and install the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader drivers. You may need to restart your PC and disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows for them to install correctly.
  2. Extract All Files: Unzip the downloaded Firmware package into a folder on your computer. You will see the programmer file (prog_emmc_firehose…mbn) and XML files. Also, extract the QPST tool.
  3. Launch QFIL: Open the QPST installation directory (usually C:\Program Files (x88)\Qualcomm\QPST\bin) and run QFIL.exe.
  4. Enter EDL Mode: Power off your ZTE Blade V Ultra completely. Press and hold both the Volume Up + Volume Down buttons. While holding them, connect the phone to your PC with a USB cable. The screen should remain black, but the red notification LED may blink.
  5. Load Firmware in QFIL:
    • At the top, QFIL should now display “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008”. If not, check your drivers.
    • Select Flat Build as the build type.
    • Click “Browse…” next to Programmer Path and select the prog_emmc_firehose… file from the firmware folder.
    • Click “Load XML…” and select the rawprogram… file, followed by the patch… file.
  6. Start Flashing: Click the blue “Download” button. QFIL will begin writing the firmware to the device.
  7. Wait for Success: Do not disconnect the phone. The process is finished when the status bar shows “Download Succeeded.”
  8. Reboot: Disconnect the phone and hold the Power button until it vibrates and boots up. The first boot can take up to 15 minutes.

FAQs

Q1. What is the difference between the Blade V Ultra and the Blade V8 Pro?

They are the same physical device. “Blade V Ultra (Z982)” is the name and model number used by the carrier Telcel in Mexico. “Blade V8 Pro” was the name used for the unlocked version in the US and other global markets. The software (firmware) is specific to the carrier.

Q2. Will this firmware unlock my phone from the Telcel network?

No. This is the official Telcel firmware. Flashing it will restore the phone to its original software, including the network lock. The device will still only work with a Telcel SIM card in Mexico.

Q3. How can I change the phone’s language from Spanish?

During the initial setup wizard, you can select your preferred language (Idioma). If you skip this, you can change it later by going to Configuración (Settings) > Sistema (System) > Idiomas y entrada (Languages & input) and adding your language.

Q4. What is EDL Mode?

EDL (Emergency Download) Mode is a special low-level boot mode on Qualcomm devices. It allows tools like QFIL to directly access the phone’s storage, bypassing a corrupted or non-booting operating system, making it essential for unbricking a device.

Troubleshooting (ZTE Blade V Ultra)

  • QFIL shows “No Port Available” or a “Sahara” error: This is the most common QFIL issue and is almost always caused by drivers. Reinstall the Qualcomm 9008 drivers, check Windows Device Manager to see if the device is listed, and use a high-quality USB cable.
  • “Sin Servicio” (No Service) or “SIM no válida” (Invalid SIM): This is expected if you are using a SIM card from a carrier other than Telcel. The phone is network-locked.
  • Device gets stuck on the Telcel logo after flashing: The first boot is always the longest. Wait at least 15 minutes. If it is still stuck, boot into recovery mode (hold Volume Up + Power from an off state) and perform a “Wipe data/factory reset”.
  • Telcel apps are not working properly: After a fresh flash, connect to Wi-Fi. The pre-installed carrier apps may need to be updated through the Google Play Store to function correctly.
