ZTE Blade V8 Lite Firmware Flash File Download [Stock Rom]

The ZTE Blade V8 Lite is the budget-focused model in the popular Blade V8 series from 2017. This page provides an official OTA (Over-The-Air) update package for the device. For owners of this phone, manually installing this software update is a great way to apply the latest available bug fixes and improve the overall stability of the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

Important Note: This is an OTA update package, not a full firmware for unbricking a dead phone. It must be installed on a functioning device. Your phone must also be on 100% stock, un-rooted firmware with the original recovery for the update to install successfully.

  1. Via Settings Menu: Download the `.zip` file and move it to the main (root) directory of your internal storage. Go to `Settings` > `System` > `System Update`, tap the menu icon in the corner, select `Local update`, and choose the file.
  2. Via Stock Recovery: Download the `.zip` file and move it to your internal storage or SD card. Power off the phone, then boot into recovery mode (hold Volume Up + Power). Select `Apply update from…` and choose the `.zip` file.

FAQs

Q1. Is this the same as the ZTE Blade V8 or V8 SE?

No. The Blade V8 Lite (MediaTek MT6750) is a different model from the standard Blade V8 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 435) and the V8 SE. They have different chipsets and specifications. This firmware is strictly for the Blade V8 Lite and will not work on other models.

Q2. Will this update fix my phone’s overheating issue?

An official OTA update often includes performance optimizations that can help reduce unnecessary processor load, which may help with overheating. However, the MediaTek MT6750 is known to run warm. If the phone still gets hot after the update, avoid intensive use while charging.

Q3. My phone is rooted. Why does the update fail with a “verification” error?

Official OTA updates require a 100% original, untouched system. They perform a security check, and if root access or a custom recovery is detected, the installation will fail to prevent potential damage. You must have stock firmware and recovery.

Device-Specific Troubleshooting

  • Poor Battery Life After Update: This OTA may improve battery performance by fixing bugs. If you experience faster drain after the update, it could be a misbehaving app. Check `Settings > Battery` to see what is consuming the most power. A `wipe cache partition` from recovery mode after the update can also help.
  • “System UI has stopped” or Frequent Freezes: This error indicates software instability. Installing this official OTA update is a primary fix for such bugs. If the issue persists after the update, a factory reset (`Settings > Backup & reset`) will provide a completely clean system.
  • Unstable Wi-Fi Connection: This update may include updated drivers for the Wi-Fi hardware. If you still experience issues with Wi-Fi dropping after installing the OTA, try resetting the network settings via `Settings > Backup & reset > Network settings reset`. This will clear saved passwords but can fix stubborn connection problems.
  • “Verification Failed” During Installation: This error is definitive. It means your system has been modified (rooted) or you are on a custom software version. This official OTA will only install on a 100% stock, un-rooted device. You must flash a full SP Flash Tool firmware first to restore the phone to its original state.
